Righteousness Redefined 4/28/2013
Jesus said that our righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and the pharisees. Have you ever wondered what the means? What if it meant that you have to do a better job of obeying the almost endless code of laws associated with the Jewish religion of the day. What if it means that there were more laws that hadn’t yet been introduced to the human community? Then again, what if it means that righteousness can’t really be measured by the extremely finite boundaries of law? What if righteousness isn’t what we thought it was? What if righteousness is something different than law…something better than law? Join us this week as we begin to look at “Righteousness Redefined”.

Lessons for WOLF BAIT! 3/10/2013
Jesus said that He was sending His disciples out as “sheep among wolves”. His idea was to catch some wolves. I don’t know if you ever thought about it, but catching wolves can be a very dangerous business, especially if you are the bait. I really can’t see what a sheep has to offer a wolf except a good meal, a sacrificial meal! Yet, it is only by eating the body and drinking the blood of a lamb that any wolf has a chance. Join us this week as we discover how WOLF BAIT should live!
Maximizing Your Investment 3/03/2013
Everyone of us knows a lot less than we think we do. So as the Proverb goes, “there is wisdom in a multitude of counsellors.” If you are like me there is a special need for counsel in the area of investments. Recently, as I was studying a very familiar passage of scripture in Matthew 25, I realised for the first time that it was actually intended to be investment counsel. Jesus was trying to teach His disciples how important it is to invest wisely if we are to expect a profitable return. Join me this week as we learn how to “maximize our investment”.
The Power of Flossing 2/24/2013
Did you know plaque can build up not just in your teeth, but in your brain and even your life? If you find yourself stagnating into the same sedentary daily routine, you may be suffering from both physical and spiritual plaque. We may know how to take care of our teeth, but how do we fight the negative habits and thoughts that spiritually block us from God? The answer is in spiritual “flossing!”
How to Harness a Worm 2/10/2013
The psalmist wrote, “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it”, but Genesis teaches that it has been given to humanity to rule it. The question is, how? How do we take on this enormous task and what does it mean to rule the earth? Join us this week as we discover, “How to Harness a Worm”.
“Oh no! My sinner’s missing!” 1/27/2013
Most of us wander through our life as a Christian oblivious to God’s real aim. We think He’s after perfection or cultural transformation. We think He’s after holiness or really good worshipers. We may think He’s after doctrinal purity or exciting displays of supernatural power. Some of us think He’s after excellence or spontaneous worship. The truth is God has lost something, something very valuable and He wants it back. He wants it back so badly He’s willing to die for it. The truth God is missing His “sinner” and He’s coming to find him/her and take him/her home.
Remember the Poor 1/20/2013
When Christmas is done, when all of your presents are digested into the normal routine, when your cheer and holiday good deeds are fading into the background noise of the daily grind and you can’t get what you want and you can’t get your way, “Remember the Poor”! Don’t just call them to mind but try to put yourself in their place through your unsatisfied desire. Remember to care for them and to enrich them. Remember that though Christ was “rich, for us He became poor”.
Is It Enough? 1/13/2013
Do you ever feel inadequate? Do you ever feel like you can’t help? Do you ever feel like you your too poor, dumb, young or old to really do anything for God or the world? The Lord wants you and me to know that whatever we have is enough for whatever He’s asked of us. He wants you and me to know that there is only one thing that stands between us and real useful even life changing contributions to the world. So, lay aside the excuses for why you can’t do what needs to be done with what you have and who you are and uncover this truth, “It Is Enough!”
God’s Financial Fix 1/06/2013
This may be one of the best kept secrets of all time. Even Christians seem oblivious to its existence. Hidden in one of the more boring books of the Old Testament there is a simple solution to handling debt and perhaps an even simpler solution to the problems of poverty and, that most elusive fix of all, the national debt! Join us this week as we check out, “God’s Financial Fix.”
Start Where you Are 12/22/2012
As we begin the new year there is one piece of advice, one word, that God wants to set before us as a guiding light. It is not about a bigger vision or a larger hope. It is not about realizing our potential or finding the purpose of our lives. Without it, however, we will probably never achieve either one. this advice is an instruction that is perceived by many as a downer but it is the only real and lasting way up. The Lord has put this word on my heart and in my mouth so much this past few months that I know it must be shared with everyone. Here it is. If you have a deep desire to achieve your vision, you must, “start where you are”, not where you wish you were.
Joy in a Fallen World 12/22/2012
Even at Christmas, it can be hard to remain in a spirit of joyfulness when we see tragedies happening around us. Often we begin to question God as suffering befalls the innocent; but as we discover in this week’s message, there’s a lot more to it than that. Join us as we seek God’s answer to the catastrophes that seem to abound in everyday life and learn to approach not just Christmas but every day of the year as the best day ever.
Why them? 12/16/2012
The Christmas story as it’s told in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke reveals a mystery in them that leaves me in wonder. Why did God show the angel band to the shepherds? For that matter, why did he choose the Wisemen from the East to see the star or Simeon to recognize baby Jesus as the Messiah? This week we hope to unravel one of the greatest mysteries of Christmas: how to be chosen by God.
Waiting for Christmas 12/02/2012
Sitting with a family by the bedside of a young wife and mother as she lay helpless, waiting, longing, hoping for the arrival of word that there was a life saving organ available for transplant, I began to wonder what powerful anticipation must have gripped the Almighty as he waited for Christmas; waited for the coming salvation that would deliver His children and bring them home. Today I want to experience Advent from a totally different perspective than ever before. Let’s imagine God’s wait before Christmas. Let’s allow His great longing to possess our souls and charge our emotions and change our lives.
So You Wanna See God? 11/25/2012
As the Christmas season approaches our hearts, minds and energy turn toward celebrating the coming of Christ. It seems, however, that a clear view of Jesus is almost impossible to gain. The days and nights are so crowded and our attention is so divided that it’s difficult to focus on anything! So, if you want to see God in Christ, join us as we uncover the scripture’s directions for gaining new and clear view of Jesus this year, all year, forever!
We had a bit of technical difficulty this week but the word was so important I wanted to share it anyway. This is a shortened version of Sunday’s message. Hebrews 12:28, gives us an interesting insight on the Greek word for grace. It reveals that grace is not a static gift but one that contains an imperative that will impact our words, our generosity, our actions and our attitudes. It teaches us to live a life of ferocious thanksgiving!
Who’s the Fool? 11/11/2012
The wisdom of this world bashes us day in and day out with what it calls reasonable, sensible even scientific wisdom and knowledge. It tells us that what or rather who we have put our faith in is unreliable and even mythological. This weeks message explores this tactic of mental warfare as we consider, “Who’s The Fool”!
